RetireOne Adds Two Executives: Personnel Moves

RetireOne has hired two executives to help it support its fee-based life insurance and annuity distribution program for RIAs.

The San Francisco-based company has named Tom McNeela to be director of client experience and Jeff Cusack to be senior managing director, strategic accounts.

McNeela previously spent about 25 years at Allstate Financial Services. When he left, he was the senior manager for sales training.

Jeff Cusack was director of alternative strategies at Endeavour Investment Partners.

Before that, he spent eight years at Nuveen. Earlier in his career, for 18 years, he was on the board of the Money Management Institute.

Other companies also have personnel news this week.

Health Care Service Corp.

Health Care Service Corp. — a Chicago-based carrier that providers or administers health coverage for 17 million people — has announced several executive changes.

Dr. Opella Ernest will succeed Jeff Tikkanen as the company's executive vice president, HCSC Commercial Markets. Tikkanen is retiring.

Ernest has been the company's chief operating officer. She is a board-certified family physician.

Mike Frank, the senior vice president pharmacy and ancillary business, will become senior vice president, chief operating officer

Stephen Harris will become president of the company's Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois division, succeeding Steve Hamman who has left the company.

Ameritas

Ameritas has named Jeff Graves to be senior vice president, agency and field distribution.

Graves has been a regional vice president for the east division at the Lincoln, Nebraska-based insurer.

Ameritas has also:

  • Appointed Ryan Dolezal regional vice president, sales and distribution. He was a life insurance sales advisor at American Family Insurance. Earlier, he was a field marketing sales director at Ameritas.
  • Promoted Diane Meyer vice president, financial reporting and accounting, from second vice president, financial reporting and accounting,

Symetra

Symetra — a Bellevue, Washington-based life and annuity issuer — has promoted Chantel Balkovetz to chief operations officer, from executive vice president.

Balkovetz will continue to oversee retirement, benefits and individual life service and operations. Now, she also will oversee the information technology organization.

She has been with Symetra and predecessor companies since 2004.
