Vanguard Clients Report Login Trouble

Vanguard website users complained that they couldn't log into their accounts and trade.

Vanguard Group customers reported login problems Tuesday, taking to social media to complain to the giant asset manager. The trouble appeared to have been largely resolved before noon.

Outage monitoring site Downdetector logged a peak of more than 560 problem reports around 11:05 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, with nearly 80% reporting login trouble; the reports appeared to start before 9 a.m. and showed a spiking and waning pattern, sliding shortly after hitting the high point.

On X, formerly Twitter, users complained to Vanguard’s account.

“@Vanguard_Group WEBSITE LOGIN DOWN THIS MORNING – I CANNOT ACCESS MY MONEY AND ACCOUNTS AND I NEED TO TRADE,” one X user posted at 10:45 a.m.

“Once again, you are down,” another X user posted at 10:30 a.m.

Replying to a Vanguard post promoting a Q&A session on emerging market debt, another X user said at 9:32 a.m., ”Maybe have a Q&A about how a company with trillions AUM can have their login screen break at the opening bell.”

At least one X user reported that neither the mobile app nor website were accepting logins.

Vanguard representatives didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment on the situation.
