Krishna Kasarneni, AVP, Software Developer at LPL Financial, demonstrated that generative AI can fundamentally transform how financial services firms modernize mission-critical infrastructure. Kasarneni leveraged AI to build a production-grade commission ticket charge calculation engine — replacing a decades-old Oracle stored procedure that processes compensation for LPL's 32,000+ financial advisors. The project, estimated at eight months under traditional delivery, was delivered in two weeks. What sets this work apart is the discipline applied: automated reconciliation validated every calculation against legacy results, discrepancies were documented transparently, and architecture decisions were evidence-based rather than AI-dictated. The result is a horizontally-scalable microservice on AWS EKS serving bulk operations at scale — with a documented migration blueprint other teams can adopt.
