Court proceedings in a lawsuit over the way Carson Group handled a sexual assault report have been pushed to May 2025, according to the case docket.
Lawyers for Carson Group and for the former executive who sued the firm had been scheduled to update the judge on case progression "and the parties' interest in settlement” via phone at an interim status conference on Nov. 12.
In early November, the judge canceled that conference and scheduled a telephone status conference for May 6, 2025, to discuss the same topics and trial and pretrial conference settings.
Mary Kate Gulick, Carson’s former chief marketing officer, filed suit in April in U.S. District Court in Nebraska, alleging the RIA retaliated against and eventually fired her in 2023 after she voiced concerns over its response to a report that a Carson employee had sexually assaulted a participant at a 2022 industry conference.
Gulick "was deeply troubled by Carson Group's complete lack of concern about having an alleged sexual predator working there, where he was interacting and traveling with Carson Group's female employees," her lawsuit states, contending then-CEO Ron Carson decided against firing the employee. She also had complained that Carson had a "toxic" culture.
