Global Atlantic Financial Group has hired Monica Verma to be the chief operating officer at its investment office.
The New York-based life and annuity issuer noted that, although it's now part of investment management services provider KKR, the Global Atlantic investment office is still responsible for the overall performance of the $125 billion Global Atlantic investment portfolio.
Verma previously was global head of enterprise treasury at Vanguard. She also has worked for the Allianz Global Investors and PIMCO units.
She has a bachelor's degree from MIT and a master's degree in economics from the University of Michigan.

Protective Life Corp. — a Birmingham, Alabama-based arm of Dai-ichi Life Holdings — has hired Kathryn Cox to be a senior vice president of the company and president of the protection division.
Cox has been senior vice president, business development of U.S. mortality markets, at Reinsurance Group of America.
She has a bachelor's degree in actuarial science from Maryville College. She holds the Certified Public Accountant, fellow of the Society of Actuaries and fellow of the Life Management Institute professional designations.
She has served as the actuarial liaison for The Association of Home Office Underwriters Program Committee.
