Ameriprise Financial says a veteran Merrill Lynch team with four advisors and about $675 million in client assets has joined its employee channel: CAM Wealth Management is based in Annapolis, Maryland and includes certified financial planners Kevin B. Collison, Christopher Asher, Scott McRoy and Pat Cotherman.

McRoy began his career at Merrill and was with the firm for the past 33 years, according to FINRA BrokerCheck. Collison and Asher each have 20 years in the business and spent the past decade at Merrill, while Cotherman has six years of industry experience and spent the last four with Merrill.

"We help accomplish our clients' financial goals in two ways: comprehensive financial planning and wealth management," McRoy said in a statement. "We were looking for a firm that would give us the ability to focus on these priorities and that could support the growth we have in mind for our business. We evaluated seven firms closely and quickly discovered that Ameriprise rose to the top."

Ameriprise complex director Jason Bourgo and branch manager Eric Borsoni now work with the group.

"Having known this team for many years, I am confident they will be a great fit for the financial planning culture at Ameriprise," according to Borsoni. "I am excited to have this exceptional group join our firm."

McRoy added "We've had a strong start at Ameriprise. Top leadership, department heads and various specialists are coming together to support our clients and our business in the way we expected."

As of July 30, Ameriprise included 9,951 advisors, roughly 2,200 of whom are employee advisors; the remainder are independent contractors.
