Dynasty Financial Partners says a team has formed an RIA and joined it from Wells Fargo; the new group is led by Chuck Cooper, CFP, a former branch manager in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Cooper and his partner John Garlow — along with operations director Kathy Postoak — work with $300 million in client assets and do business as StrongBox Wealth.

"Chuck and his team are a well-established financial advisory team in Missouri. and they are well-positioned for growth.  We expect them to flourish in the independent space," Dynasty President & CEO Shirl Penney said in a statement.

Cooper has been in the business for over 25 years and also serves as a director of Velocity Lee's Summit, a resource group for entrepreneurs, and as a member of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation's Regional Advisory Council.  He spent 11 years at Wells Fargo, 10 at A.G. Edwards and about four at Edward Jones.

Garlow joined Wells Fargo in 2010, according to FINRA BrokerCheck. The advisor is board chair of Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce and also serves on Lee's Summit Educational Foundation's Advisory Board.

"We plan to expand the firm through highly selective partner advisor additions, as well as establish an affiliated network model for breakaway advisors desiring to join an established RIA," according to Cooper.

"Ultimately, StrongBox Wealth expects to integrate tax, legal, risk management and professional services to create an ensemble of client resources," he added.

Two months ago, Venture Visionary Partners with 11 members and $1.5 billion of client assets, moved to Dynasty from UBS near Toledo, Ohio.
