MIB Group Inc. says its overall life insurance application activity index was 0.4% lower in September than in September 2017.

But activity for consumers ages 45 and older was up.

MIB is a Braintree, Massachusetts-based group that helps life insurers share information used in checking life insurance applications.

MIB analysts create their monthly activity reports using the application-checking volume as an activity indicator.

In September:

  • Application activity for consumers ages 0 to 44 fell 2%.
  • Activity for consumers ages 45 to 59 increased 0.2%.
  • Activity for consumers ages 60 and older increased 3.3%.

For the first nine months of the year, overall MIB life application activity is down 0.2% when compared with the first nine months of 2017.
