BNY Mellon Nabs Veteran Goldman Wealth, Tech Exec

BNY Mellon has recruited Avi Shua from Goldman Sachs to lead its wealth management technology operations.

Shua spent nearly 28 years at Goldman Sachs and was head of its global wealth management tech group since 2013, as well as chief information officer of Goldman Sachs Bank USA from 2008 to 2016, according to LinkedIn. In addition, he led the global asset management tech group from '06 to '08 and the global investment and merchant banking tech team from '91 to '06.

Shua will report to BNY Mellon Chief Information Officer Bridget Engle and Wealth Management CEO Catherine Keating. He also will be part of the Technology Executive Committee and Wealth Management leadership team.

"Avi is a proven leader in building complex global technology platforms," according to Engle. "His business-centric approach, coupled with his proven track record of designing resilient technology solutions, will be critical as the bank looks to grow its wealth management business."

In a statement, Keating added: "Our clients value wealth advice enhanced by technology. We look forward to working with Avi to drive new insights and new ways to serve our clients."
