MIB Group Inc., an organization that collects insurance applicant data, installed David Acselrod as its 2018-2019 chairman Friday.

Acselrod previously was MIB's vice chairman. He took over from Arthur Roberts, a retired Ohio National chief financial officer.

Acselrod has been a vice president at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company since 2014. Before that, he spent years at MetLife.

MIB helps its 410 member insurers vet applicants, by pooling application data from the member insurers. It also compiles the life insurance industry benchmarking data used in principles-based reserving efforts.

Many life insurers and insurance technology companies are building MIB data feeds into accelerated and automated underwriting programs.

Acselrod has a master's degree from Bucknell University and a master's degree in business from Columbia University.

While at MetLife, he was involved with MetLife's retail distribution strategy, sales compensation, long-term care insurance, and small-group insurance operations.

James Hohmann, president of Members Mutual and Vericity Holdings and Fidelity Life Association, is now MIB's vice chairman.

Hohmann previously was the chief executive officer of FBL Financial Group. He has a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a master's degree in business from the University of Chicago.
