Oswald Companies is working with a life affiliate of Nationwide Financial Services Inc. to provide life insurance for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Oswald, Cleveland, and Nationwide Financial, Columbus, Ohio, are starting out by offering the program only to members of The Arc of Ohio, Columbus Ohio, a nonprofit association that serves about 330,000 Ohio residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their relatives.
The advisors who set up the program built it around a simplified issue life insurance policy issued by Nationwide Life and Annuity Insurance Company. Like Nationwide Financial, Nationwide Life is part of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company.
The program can use the simplified issue life insurance to cover people who are developmentally disabled as well as their relatives and the product can be used to cover burial expenses and outstanding debts, Nationwide Financial says.
