Officials at the Missouri Department of Insurance say they believe their state’s health insurance exchange has support from Republicans as well as Democrats.
The Missouri Department of Insurance and the Missouri Health Insurance Pool received a $21 million exchange grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Friday.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) encourages states to set up health insurance exchange distribution systems by 2014. The exchanges are supposed to help individuals and small businesses use tax credits to coverage.
If a state does not set up its own exchange, the federal government is supposed to provide exchange services for the state’s residents.
