ASQ has released ISO 26000: Guidance on Social Responsibility, a set of international guidelines aimed at insurers that want to show they are trying to do the right things.

ASQ, Milwaukee, is a quality standards group. It is the administrator for the U.S. technical advisory group that helps develop and maintain the ISO 26000 standard.

The standard includes provisions for 7 types of social responsibility: Organizational governance, community involvement and development, environment, fair operating practices, consumer issues, labor practices and human rights.

ASQ notes that it is focusing for now mainly on the organizational governance, environment, and community involvement and development provisions.
