The American Association for Long Term Care Insurance has scheduled Long Term Care Awareness Week to start Nov. 4.

"This year, the focus of our awareness efforts will be educating the millions of baby boomers who are approaching retirement," says Jess Slome, executive director of the AALTCI, Westlake Village, Calif.

The campaign will address topics such as new products and options that can serve the needs of buyers who have not yet retired, the AALTCI says.

In 2006, several governors helped the AALTCI spread its message by declaring a Long Term Care Awareness Week in their states. The AALTCI also joined with the Assisted Living Federation of America, Alexandria, Va., to conduct local awareness programs.
