Personnel Changes: Deloitte, MDRT, Others

The insurance industry group at Deloitte & Touche USA L.L.P. has hired Howard Mills, who served as New York state insurance superintendent from 2004 to 2006, to be the group's chief advisor.

Mills will work with global insurance clients as well as U.S. insurance clients, according Deloitte, New York, a member of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Swiss verein.

Mills was appointed to the New York superintendent post by former New York Gov. George Pataki, a Republican who is believed to be a potential contender for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.

While Mills was New York superintendent, he was commissioner of the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims and a member of the Presidential Financial and Banking Information Infrastructure Committee.

Mills also is a major in the New York Guard, 56th Brigade.

Before Mills became commissioner, he served several terms in the New York State Assembly. In 2004, he was the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate.

Mills has a bachelor's degree from Marist College and a master's degree in government and public affairs from American University.

In other personnel news:

- The Million Dollar Round Table, Park Ridge, Ill., has promoted Stephen Stahr to be the group's managing director.

Stahr, who began working for the MDRT in 1990, has been the group's public relations director since 1997.

Stahr has a bachelor's degree in communications from Sangamon State University. He holds the Certified Association Executive professional designation from the American Society of Association Executives, Washington.
