The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services has introduced a new Web site to provide Americans with information to help them plan for long term care.

The site, titled the National Clearinghouse for Long Term Care Information, provides extensive information about LTC planning, services and financing choices, as well as a number of tools to help consumers start planning.

HHS says it is offering the site to boost public awareness of the risks and costs of LTC and to provide objective information to help people prepare for LTC in the event they or family members need it. The site was mandated under the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.

In addition to advice on buying LTC insurance, the site offers information about state long term care partnership programs and information about the availability and limitations of LTC coverage under Medicaid.
