An Oklahoma state court judge has sentenced former Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher to spend 3 years in prison and pay a $20,000 fine, officials say.
Oklahoma County District Judge Susan Caswell handed the sentence down Tuesday, according to Oklahoma Attorney General W.A. Drew Edmondson.
A jury convicted Fisher of embezzlement and perjury Feb. 8, officials say.
Prosecutors have accused Fisher of depositing a $1,000 campaign contribution into his personal bank account and of failing to report receiving the money on his state campaign reports, officials say.
Fisher is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 11 in connection with a related case involving tax evasion charges, officials say.
Fisher could not immediately be reached for comment on the sentencing.
