Focus Financial has announced that Cardinal Point Capital Management, a Toronto-based firm that first affiliated with Focus in 2021, will serve as the organization’s newest “hub office" as it seeks to expand its business in Canada.

Cardinal Point specializes in cross-border wealth management and financial planning for high-net-worth and business-management clients across the United States and Canada. Moving forward, the group will serve as Focus Financial’s fifth primary business hub — and its first headquartered north of the border.

Michael Nathanson, CEO of Focus Financial Partners, cited Cardinal Point’s “differentiated value proposition in the Canadian market” and its “exceptional leadership and client-service teams” as drivers of the decision.

“Cardinal Point is well positioned to lead Focus’ consolidation and expansion efforts in Canada,” Nathanson said. “Cardinal Point’s next chapter as a hub will enable the firm to extend the reach of its services while also expanding its capabilities for clients across the entirety of Focus — especially given its expertise in cross-border wealth management.”

Jeff Sheldon, co-founder and CEO of Cardinal Point, said his team is “excited to be an integral part of what Focus is building and by their continued commitment to the Canadian market.”

Cardinal Point joins The Colony Group, Kovitz Investment Group, SCS Financial and Gelfand, Rennert and Feldman as the fifth Focus hub. The full network’s assets under management are about $400 billion.
