The financial advisor and entrepreneur Ross Marino has announced his decision to cancel the 2025 Shift Conference and to close its parent company, Advisor2x, effective immediately.

Marino revealed his decision Thursday via a thread on the social media platform X.

“This was a tough but necessary decision for personal reasons,” Marino wrote. “Family obligations require me to eliminate most travel and work from home regularly. I simply lack the capacity to continue Advisor2x, Shift, and my RIA.”

Marino founded Advisor2x in 2009. The company focused on delivering online shows and live events designed to help financial advisors grow their practices and keep abreast of the rapid pace of change in the wealth management industry. He founded his RIA, Transitus Wealth Partners, in 2016, and intends to continue with that enterprise, according to his posts.

The 2025 event would have been the third edition of Shift, which has been recognized by Kitces.com as a top behavioral finance event for wealth managers. The second took place in March 2024 at the Walt Disney World Swan hotel.

During its two-year run, the conference welcomed a select group of financial advisors who focus on what Marino described as “holistic, forward-thinking advice for individuals and families that brings trust and human connection to the forefront of conversations in the financial advice industry.”

Marino did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding his plans for the future.

“This new season in life involves certain constraints but also presents opportunities,” Marino wrote. “I’m already working on a new project that captures the ... major trends shaping our profession. I believe the next five years will be the most transformative period in the history of financial planning. The transformation has already begun. I’m excited to build.”
