Carson Group President Teri Shepherd revealed Friday that she plans to step down from the role at the end of March.

A spokesperson told ThinkAdvisor that Shepherd is stepping away to spend more time with her family.

Shepherd has held the president role since May 2012, and during that time she worked closely with the firm’s founder and longtime CEO, Ron Carson, on strategic planning and development, financial forecasting, business analysis and client experience optimization.

Carson departed in April and was replaced at the helm by the former LPL Chief Investment Officer Burt White.

Shepherd was the first female executive to join the Carson Group team, and the percentage of female advisors at the firm has grown significantly under her watch. During her tenure, the firm also established a new focus on growth via mergers and acquisitions, growing to represent over 150 partner offices and more than 50 Carson Wealth locations with a combined assets under management of more than $45 billion.

As part of the transition, Shepherd is expected to slowly step back from her responsibilities, while White and the rest of the Carson executive leadership team identify the next leader or leaders.
