The wealth management and technology services provider Orion has named Chris Shutler as its new head of strategy.

Shutler is tasked with the development and execution of the firm’s evolving corporate strategy, including market analysis and identifying growth opportunities. He will also serve as a “trusted advisor and thought partner” to the executive leadership team, reporting to Orion Chief Financial Officer Mark Mayo, according to the announcement.

Prior to joining Orion, Shutler was head of strategic development and market Intelligence for Envestnet, where he helped to evaluate merger and acquisition opportunities and lead strategic projects. Other prior roles include a 13-year stint at William Blair & Co., where he focused on equity research for the wealth management, asset management and financial technology sectors.

Mayo cited Shutler’s extensive experience in strategy and market intelligence as key factors in his appointment.

“Chris's expertise will help Orion identify new growth opportunities and help ensure that advisors have the insights, tools and support they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving environment,” Mayo said in a statement.

Shutler said he is excited to be joining a firm that is “uniquely positioned in the marketplace” to “[empower] advisors with integrated technology and customized wealth solutions that meet them wherever they are in their growth journey.”

“I look forward to collaborating with this experienced team, dedicated to building a wealthtech community where advisors and investors can thrive,” he added.
