E-Trade experienced an outage starting around the time the stock market opened Tuesday, according to social media reports.
A graph on outage monitoring site Downdetector showed over 360 problem reports for E-Trade at 9:59 a.m., including the website, mobile brokerage and trading. The reports appeared to start a few minutes before the market open.
“@etrade what are the issues with the platform I don’t see my portfolio #problem,” one X, formerly Twitter, user posted at 9:40 a.m.
Another posted at 10:02 a.m., “@etrade your s*** is down. Fix it I want to buy and sell stock. Who is going to compensate me for my losses?!”
Representatives from E-Trade and parent Morgan Stanley didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
