The American College of Financial Services has officially opened enrollment for its new tax planning certification, dubbed the Tax Planning Certified Professional.
The new program was first publicized by the American College in June, with several thousand advisors signing up for the waiting list in just the first two weeks. The curriculum has been under development for about a year and a half.
Participating financial professionals will gain an education in "comprehensive, tax-informed planning" that will help them close knowledge gaps and meet client expectations in an area of growing importance, according to the announcement.
Early enrollment for the program, which launches Jan. 6, comes with a $500 discount. The regular price to purchase all three courses needed to earn the designation will be $2,695.
As ThinkAdvisor has previously reported, the program's chief architect is Jeff Levine, who is Buckingham Wealth Partners' chief planning officer and also the lead financial planning nerd at Kitces.com.
