Fidelity Investments appeared to experience a widespread login problem Tuesday as an outage monitoring website logged more than 10,000 problem reports within a few minutes.

The problem appeared to start shortly before 11 a.m. Eastern time, and Fidelity announced it had resolved it about an hour later.

The issue affected both the company’s website and mobile app, customer posts indicated.

Fidelity posted on X, formerly Twitter, at 11:41 a.m.: “We are aware that some customers are experiencing issues logging into Fidelity platforms. We are working urgently on a resolution. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate you being a customer.”

Shortly before noon, the company posted: “We are aware that some customers briefly experienced issues logging into Fidelity platforms earlier today. This is now resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate you being a customer.”

Sixty-eight percent of the reports involved login issues, according to Downdetector, which registered a major spike in reports starting shortly before 11 a.m. The reports surpassed 10,900 before 11:25, a Downdetector chart showed. Nearly 10 minutes later, the reports had dropped below 6,700, then soon fell below 1,500, the chart showed.

“Middle of trades and can’t login anywhere,” one Downdetector user posted. “After this I’m done with Fidelity.”
