The Financial Planning Association has named Carol Anderson, the founder of Money Quotient and MQ Research & Education, as the recipient of its 2024 P. Kemp Fain, Jr., Award.
The award, named in honor of the late P. Kemp Fain, Jr., recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the financial planning profession. Each year, the award is presented to a person realizing "outstanding achievements in service to society, academia, government and professional activities," the group says.
FPA's announcement cites Anderson's 35 years of work developing tools, resources and training to teach the practical application of a multi-disciplinary, research-based approach to financial planning and counseling.
"Few people have had as much of an impact as Carol Anderson," said 2024 FPA President Claudia Kane, in a statement. "Carol's research and programs have been a catalyst in the development of financial planners for nearly four decades and will prove to be instrumental in the development of future generations of financial planners."
Kane also pointed to Anderson's efforts to enable financial planners to better understand the emotional and behavioral aspects of money — while providing an important foundation for establishing stronger relationships with clients.
"I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for this recognition of my life's work," Anderson said. "I have been driven to identify the factors that inspire and equip individuals to maximize their resources and pursue lives of meaning and purpose. I am indebted to my family, teachers and colleagues for encouraging and supporting me along this endlessly fascinating journey."
