The World's 50 Best Restaurants recently announced its annual list of prestigious restaurants produced by the U.K. media company William Reed and sponsored by S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. These restaurants may be out of reach for most diners, given their cost and difficulty in snagging reservations, but they highlight trends in the culinary world that are picked up by their more accessible counterparts. Taking prospective clients to lunch or dinner in an elegant restaurant that offers an exceptional culinary experience can help bring them on board. It can also be a good setting for closing a business deal. But it's also wise to be aware that not all these trends among the top restaurants will appeal to every patron — hyper-theatrical presentations, 14-course tasting menus and even lectures from staff on food-related topics. The 2024 list was voted on by 1,080 international restaurant industry experts and gourmets who make up The World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy. The gender-balanced academy comprises 27 separate global regions, each with 40 members and a chairperson. No event sponsor has influence over the voting. Deloitte, a professional services consultancy, independently adjudicates the best restaurants list to ensure that the integrity and authenticity of the voting process and results are protected. See the accompanying gallery for the academy's picks for the 10 best restaurants in the world in 2024.
