Morgan Stanley Wealth Rolls Out AI Note-Taking Tool

The offering acts as a summarizer and communication composer of client meetings, according to the firm.

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management has launched Morgan Stanley Debrief, an OpenAI-powered tool that generates notes on a financial advisors’ behalf in client meetings.

The tool can also spotlight potential action items for advisors and their clients to discuss, according to the announcement. Morgan Stanley Debrief will act as a “notetaker, summarizer and first draft communication composer for client meetings,” the announcement added.

The goal of the tool, which requires client consent, is to increase advisors’ efficiency to allow them more time to engage with clients, said Vince Lumia, head of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management client segments.

The launch comes more than a year after Morgan Stanley Wealth Management established its relationship with OpenAI. The initial collaboration gave Morgan Stanley advisors new ways to access and share Morgan Stanley’s intellectual capital.

“Through this rollout, financial advisors continue to see first-hand the real benefits GenAI delivers to their practices,” said Jeff McMillan, head of firm-wide artificial intelligence at Morgan Stanley.
