"I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." When a life insurance agent or advisor takes on a new client, Humphrey Bogart's classic line from "Casablanca" might come to mind. You want this to be a long-term relationship. You want your new client to introduce their parents and grandparents. You want to meet aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, too. This can happen, but it requires the client to trust the advisor. You might say: "You're entrusting me with helping you achieve your financial goals. I plan to live up to your expectations to the best of my ability." Regardless of the words you choose, that is the message you want to get across. Getting this message across lets your client know this is the beginning of a relationship, not a one-time transaction. That should make a difference in the level of trust and quality of the relationship. For six points you want to make with your new client, see the gallery above. Credit: fizkes/Adobe Stock
