"I'm excited to work with partners across the industry to ensure we build from our successes and elevate our profession in ways that enhance the value we deliver to clients," James said.

Finseca: Finseca is a Washington-based group for financial security professionals. It was formed by the merger of the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting and GAMA International in 2018.

The immediate past chair is Rick Van Benschoten of Wealthspire.

The chair-elect is George Van Dusen IV of Diversified Brokerage Services.

Mike James: James grew up in Boston and earned a bachelor's degree from American International College.

An internship at John Hancock led to a 14-year career there.

James moved to NFP in 2006. He has been active in community organizations in the Boston area as well as at NFP, and he has been a member of AALU and Finseca for more than 20 years.

He joined the AALU board in 2018. He also serves on the boards of LIMRA, LOMA and the American College of Financial Services.
