NAILBA Adds Life Underwriting Program

The 19-module course from the trade group will focus on how the application process works.

A new course can help life insurance brokerage employees understand the life insurance application process.

The National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies, a Finseca community, has added a NAILBA Case Manager Certification program.

The 19-module course includes such topic areas as key risk factors, mortality, morbidity, reinsurance, digital underwriting, and the extra steps facing applicants who are not U.S. citizens.

One module, for example, touches on why life insurers want customers to have an insurable interest in the life of the insured.

Another module shows how well-written cover letters can provide additional context for an application and speed up the review process.

Each module comes with a video and a quiz.

The new course complements an eight-module NAILBA Case Manager Certification program that the organization introduced two years ago.

The basic case manager program includes a look at underwriting basics, a discussion of risk and rate classes, and a quick review of how field underwriting works.

NAILBA, a trade group for independent insurance brokers and brokerage general agencies in life, health, and annuity markets, merged with Finseca in August 2022.
