Focus Financial Names New COO, 3 More New Execs

The news comes a few months after Focus named Michael Nathanson as CEO amid a broader leadership reshuffle.

Focus Financial Partners announced four new executive appointments Monday, including the hiring of David Lang as chief operating officer.

Most recently, Lang was a partner and COO of enterprise solutions at Apollo Global Management. Before that, he was a partner and COO at Goldman Sachs.

“Mr. Lang brings extensive leadership experience in business transformation and risk management to Focus,” the firm said in a statement.

The appointment comes just a few months after Focus selected Michael Nathanson as its new CEO amid a broader leadership reshuffle that saw interim CEO and Colony Group head Dan Glaser become executive chair of the RIA network’s board of directors.

Other executive appointments include Kathleen Alcorn, as chief marketing and communications officer, and Lawrence Frers, as chief human resources officer.

Alcorn moves from Focus partner firm Connectus Wealth Advisers, where she was chief marketing officer, while Frers comes to Focus after two decades at Morgan Stanley, most recently having led human resources for its wealth management business.

Finally, Molly Bennard joined as president of international operations, also moving from Connectus Wealth Advisers, where she was CEO.

“We are excited to welcome these key leaders to the Focus executive team,” Nathanson said. “Each individual brings us extensive experience in optimizing business operations that will help us amplify Focus’ position in the fiduciary advice space.”

Focus Financial Partners’ RIA network includes Buckingham Strategic Wealth and more than 90 other partner firms that worked with more than $350 billion in assets as of December.
