David Canter Joins Board at Parallel Advisors

Parallel Advisors announced Monday the appointment of Fidelity alum David Canter to its board of directors.

Canter is the first outside board member to be hired by the $7.5 billion RIA, according to the announcement, and he's tasked with providing growth-focused insight and guidance to Parallel's executes.

C.J. Rendic, Parallel Advisors' CEO, said the appointment reflects the firm's "next phase of development," one which will benefit from Canter's significant experience in the registered investment advisor industry.

Canter was previously the head of Fidelity's RIA segment, a role he occupied for five years before stepping down in July 2022. From there, Canter moved to Bluespring Wealth Partners, where he was president for about a year before pivoting to support the firm as a strategic advisor.

Before his 13-year run at Fidelity, Canter held senior leadership roles at Charles Schwab and Post Advisory Group, and he currently sits on the board of the Invest in Others charitable foundation, in addition to being a strategic advisor to the digital alternatives platform CAIS. He is an independent trustee of the Accordant Investments family of mutual funds.

Rendic cited Canter's "deep understanding of platforms and ecosystems" as a key factor in the appointment.
