As more Americans move into retirement and transition away from their employers’ insurance plans, health care is an increasingly important topic for financial advisors and their clients.

Between 2024 and 2027, 4.1 million Americans will turn 65 every year. This trend means that more and more of the U.S. workforce will begin moving into retirement and off their employers’ insurance plans.

In turn, health care is becoming an increasingly central part of the conversation between financial advisors and their clients – along with traditional retirement concerns such as annuities and portfolio management.

In this podcast episode, “Navigating Medicare Supplement: An Advisor’s Guide,” ThinkAdvisor contributor Bobbie Turner sits down with Fred Roth, President of Medicare Supplement at Humana, and Greg Etchison, Associate Vice President of Medicare Supplement Channel Development at Humana, to get their views about what advisors need to do to help their clients understand Medicare Supplement plans.

Roth and Etchison also discuss:

  • The differences between the various Medicare Supplement insurance plans and what those mean for clients looking to retire.
  • How advisors can help clients prepare to move off of their employer’s insurance and into Medicare.
  • Why advisors need to have these conversations with clients before they retire and move off their employer’s insurance.
