Here's some luxury market news for your high-net-worth clients who like to travel: The Michelin Guide, famous for its star ratings for restaurants, last week revealed a new rating system for ultra-luxurious hotels worldwide: Michelin keys. Hotels in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York and the District of Columbia were eligible for the distinction in the U.S. The keys are analogous to the guide's one- to three- star ratings for restaurants. In total, the 2024 Michelin Guide hotel selection in the U.S. includes 11 Three Key hotels, 33 Two Key hotels and 80 One Key hotels. The guide now comprises some 5,000 hotels across the world that researchers determine significantly add to a traveler's experience, each vetted and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting.
