The wealth management technology provider Advisor360 announced Tuesday that Mike Fanning, a longtime MassMutual executive and 30-year financial industry veteran, will be the firm's next chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors.

Fanning takes the helm at Advisor360 from Richard Napolitano, who will retire May 1 and is tasked with driving the firm's technology strategy and enterprise-wide innovation.

He first joined Advisor360 as a board member last year, and he previously helped deploy and integrate Advisor360's capabilities for MassMutual-affiliated advisors through a major licensing agreement struck in 2019.

During his 17-year tenure at MassMutual, Fanning oversaw growth and digital transformation initiatives at the company, most recently leading the company's domestic insurance business.

In the announcement, Fanning said he looks forward to advancing the firm's mission, values and strategic objectives as it navigates the next chapter of its life as an independent technology company.

The outgoing Napolitano joined Advisor360 as CEO in 2020, guiding the company through its transformation from an early-stage spinoff from Commonwealth to an independent software company with more than 700 professionals working across the United States, Canada, India and Northern Ireland.

After retirement, Napolitano will be a strategic advisor to Advisor360.

"Mike is a pioneer in this industry and uniquely suited to lead us going forward," Napolitano said. "No stranger to Advisor360, he was instrumental in developing the business case for the company within MassMutual and has served as our board chairman for the last year. I look forward to advising the company as it continues to evolve and grow under his direction."

As of February 2024, Advisor360′s platform serves more than 3 million households with a collective $1 trillion in assets.
