TD Bank customers flocked to social media sites Wednesday to report missing direct deposits and other troubles.
Social media users reported that expected direct-deposit work paychecks and Social Security payments were missing from their accounts.
Monitoring site Downdetector had received 926 problem reports on TD by 10:26 a.m. Eastern time, with the number declining to 624 a half hour later. Online banking accounted for 65%, mobile banking 26% and fund transfers 9%, according to the site. By mid-afternoon, Downdetector showed complaint reports had fallen below 75.
"This morning, TD experienced processing delays with the posting of previous day customer account activity. Most customers could access their TD accounts via online and mobile banking but account balances may not have been up to date," TD said in an updated statement emailed to ThinkAdvisor in the afternoon.
"We identified and resolved this issue and account balances and activity are being updated today. All customer transactions will be posted and accounted for. We thank our customers for their understanding in this matter."
Earlier in the day, in replies to complaints, TD posted on X that it was "aware of an issue where account information may not be up to date." A message on TD's app said the bank was working on a fix.
