Investors ran into problems trying to use Fidelity Investments' online features Wednesday, including the company's options trading platform, according to posts on social media sites.
Downdetector, which monitors outages at financial institutions, websites and communications companies, showed a spike in problem reports for Fidelity, surpassing 200 around 9:45 a.m. The issues may have been brief as reports had fallen to 51 a half-hour later and to 22 before 10:30 a.m.
"We are aware that some customers briefly experienced intermittent issues trading options on the Fidelity website earlier today," a Fidelity spokesman said in an email. "This is now resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Over half the reports cited trouble with logging in, 34% with the website and 11% with the mobile brokerage, according to Downdetector.
Posts on X, formerly Twitter, also indicated investor frustration with technical troubles with Fidelity.
"Options trading not working in the middle of the trading day, again. This is the third time in roughly one and a half months. Ridiculous," one Downdetector user posted. "How many are losing right now," another responded.
"Here go again, issues with trading platform option screens," another Downdetector user complained.
