Truist sparked nearly 600 online trouble reports Friday morning as customers cited problems logging on to the bank's website and mobile app, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages at financial institutions, cable companies and other businesses.

"Online banking is down…once again. This is becoming a weekly thing. So annoying," one user commented on Downdetector's Truist page, which shows several customer complaints about online banking posted in recent days and weeks.

"How is this even a issue? I've dealt with this more since the merger than I did the entire 10+ years with BBT," another user posted, referring to a Truist predecessor bank.

In response to complaints on X, formerly Twitter, Truist tweeted: "Good morning, We are experiencing intermittent issues with mobile banking. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve this quickly. Please let us know if you have any other questions."

"The Truist app being down on payday is nasty work man," one X user tweeted. Another posted a screenshot of a service-unavailable message.

Trouble reports appeared to reach 595 on Downdetector by 9:15 a.m. ET and had fallen to roughly 350 by 10 a.m.

Truist representatives didn't immediately respond to an email request for comment.

Truist, formed in 2019 from the BB&T and SunTrust bank merger, is the seventh largest U.S. bank in assets, according to recent Federal Reserve data, with $546.8 billion, according to Bankrate.

WCNC Charlotte reported Friday that many Truist customers have encountered problems with their credit cards this month.
