Whether due to their personal interests, previous careers, demographic focus or other strategies, many financial advisors wind up working in very particular client niches. These specialties encompass a broad set of characteristics, whether the advisor focuses on a certain generation, industry, gender, income group or personality type. We asked advisors to share their experiences working with their client niches and how they leveraged that into successful practices. We also probed them on why they decided to target the specific client population they now serve and why this group has proven beneficial to their advisory business. Check out the gallery for details on 14 advisors' client focus. Some responses are lightly edited for clarity or length.
