LPL Financial says it has hired two technology executives from Bank of America-Merrill to join its Investor and Investment Solutions team: Cory Triolo and Tim Checko.

Triolo comes on board as head of User Experience & Research for LPL after nearly 19 years as head of Digital Client Experience for Merrill Edge, the firm's online DIY investment platform. At LPL, he will focus on the design of web-based and mobile applications for financial advisors, institutional program managers and investors "with an emphasis on intuitive design, ease of use and accessibility," the independent broker-dealer says.

Checko joins LPL as the leader of Advisor Experience following 15 years as a director at Merrill, where he managed client-facing technology platforms and projects, including websites and trading platforms for that firm's Advisory, Self Directed and Retirement divisions, according to his LinkedIn profile. For LPL, he will focus on new technology, as well as investment products and solutions, that support advisors and institutions.

"Cory's track record of building successful platforms across digital banking and wealth management combined with Tim's expertise delivering products and experiences across wealth management and consumer banking will help LPL continue to deliver innovative advisor and end-client experiences," according to LPL Managing Director and Chief Product Officer Kabir Sethi.

LPL now works with some 21,000 financial advisors, including those with about 1,100 institution-based investment programs and roughly 500 RIAs.
