Wall Street and Silicon Valley have started the new year with a steady stream of job-cut announcements. Other enterprises, meanwhile, complain that they can't find good people to hire. Below the headlines, a plethora of careers with good median salaries, low unemployment rates and projected growing headcount are there for job seekers to choose from, according to U.S. News and World Report's 2023 ranking of the best business jobs. Duties, work settings, training, salaries and required skills in this sector are diverse. To arrive at its list of top jobs, U.S. News researchers identified those with the largest number and percentage of projected openings from 2021 to 2031, as determined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. They ranked careers based on their overall score — which combined median salary, unemployment rate, 10-year growth volume and growth percentage, future job prospects, stress level and work-life balance — into a single weighted average score between 0 and 10. See the gallery for the 15 best business jobs, according to U.S. News.
