The U.S., which ranks 11th for financial security in the Natixis Global Retirement Index, faces an impending retirement crisis. Today, only half of American families have retirement savings accounts, according to government data. This could change with the enactment of new legislation. President Joe Biden on Thursday signed the omnibus spending bill, which includes the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (Secure) 2.0 Act of 2022. The Secure 2.0 Act proved politically divisive among both American workers and legislators as it wended its way through Congress, although a majority of workers supported many of its provisions. To gauge that support, SeniorLiving.org conducted an online survey in April of 1,028 currently employed adults living in the U.S. See the gallery for how Americans of different ages and political affiliations responded to questions about provisions of the Secure 2.0 Act.
