Many people talk about the summer doldrums. There was an old saying on Wall Street: "Sell in May and go away." The implication was that the stock market didn't do well in the summer months. From a more practical point of view, it's easier to focus on work when it's dark and cold outside than in the warm summer months when everyone seems to be on vacation.
