Financial markets are going through a transition in which there are no entirely safe haven investments, Mohamed El-Erian, chief economic advisor of Allianz Group, said Thursday. "The markets have been distorted for so long that there is no safe haven, that's our reality right now. So you try to manage risk mitigation without a safe asset, and that's really unusual," he said during a Q&A webcast in which he offered insights and tips to financial advisors. The process "started a while ago but it didn't matter because the prices were moving in the right direction," he said, adding that in the first four months of this year investors lost money on both risky and "risk-free" assets. In the gallery above are insights, and a few predictions, from the discussion with El-Erian.
