To kick off Women's History Month, Morningstar highlighted female portfolio managers who have built impressive careers. They don't have a lot of company, as women continue to be severely underrepresented in portfolio management in the U.S. Last year, a Morningstar study found that women's representation in portfolio management has come mainly through mixed-gender teams. Sole female managers and all-female teams are rare, just 2% of management teams in the U.S. versus 70% for all-male teams. Morningstar noted that in other countries and regions, particularly smaller fund markets like China, female managers have higher representation. See the gallery for 13 top female equity managers, each of whom should be on investors' watchlist, according to Morningstar.
