Scott Romine to Lead Jackson National's Distribution Arm: Personnel Moves

Jackson Financial — which recently became a stand-alone, publicly traded company — has picked Scott Romine to help it produce the kinds of sales numbers that will keep investors happy.

The Lansing, Michigan-based life insurer named Romine to be the president of Jackson National Life Distributors, the marketing and distribution arm of Jackson National Life Insurance Company.

Romine succeeds Aimee DeCamillo. DeCamillo has left Jackson, the company says.

Romine has worked for Jackson for 24 years. He previously was president of the Advisory Solutions unit. He also has been CEO of National Planning Holdings, Jackson's affiliated network of independent broker-dealers.

Romine started out at Jackson as director of marketing services. He has a bachelor's degree from California Lutheran University and a master's degree in business from Pepperdine.

Jackson also says Alison Reed will be the chief operating officer of Jackson National Life Distributors. She has been Jackson's executive vice president for sales operations.

She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and a master's degree in business from the University of Denver.

Sammons

Sammons Financial Group has filled three top-level executive roles.

The Des Moines, Iowa-based company has named Ted Harris to be chief distribution officer for its North American Company for Life and Health Insurance arm and Bobby Johnson chief distribution officer for the Midland National Life Insurance Company arm.

Harris has been vice president of distribution at North American, and Johnson has been vice president of sales and distribution at Midland National.

Harris has also worked for Transamerica, Asset Source and Ameritas. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton.

Johnson has been with Midland National since 1996. He has a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University.

The company has also promoted Melissa Phillips to vice president, life sales operations, from assistant vice president for strategy.

Word & Brown

John Word III and Edward Brown Jr., the co-founders of Word & Brown General Agency, have named Jessica Word to be its CEO.

The co-founders said Marc McGinnis will be the general agency's president.

Word & Brown is the Orange, California-based company that created the small-group health insurance exchange that served as an inspiration for the Affordable Care Act public exchange program.

Jessica Brown has been the firm's president for eight years. Earlier, she was vice president of broker services and executive vice president of operations. She is a member of the California Chamber of Commerce board and is active in the California Association of Health Underwriters and the National Association of Health Underwriters.

McGinnis has been Word & Brown's senior vice president of sales and strategic client management.

RetireOne

RetireOne — a San Francisco-based exchange for fee-based life and annuity products — has named Stéphane Goyer to be senior managing director of product strategy.

Goyer previously was senior vice president and head of annuity product management at Protective Life Corp. Earlier, he worked for Security Benefit.

Goyer has a bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

He also owns a cattle ranch.

HealthSherpa

HealthSherpa has hired two GuideWell Connect veterans.

The San Francisco-based health insurance web broker has named Jeff Pollock to be director of sales and Rob Fitzgerald to be senior director of solutions engineering.

Pollock has also worked for BEN Marketing Group, Ryan iDirect and Dalton Agency. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut.

Cigna

Cigna — a Bloomfield, Connecticut-based health insurer — has hired Ralph Giacobbe to be senior vice president and head of investor relations.

Giacobbe previously was a securities research analyst at Citigroup. He also has been an analyst at Credit Suisse, Jefferies & Company and Schwab SoundView Capital Markets. He has a bachelor's degree from Kean University.
