Alex. Brown added nine advisors in Miami and New York who collectively manage more than $1 billion in assets from Wells Fargo and Avanza Capital Markets, the Raymond James division said Tuesday.

Joining Alex. Brown's Miami office are ex-Wells Fargo advisors Juan Felipe Souza, Fernando Riojas, Jaime Badia, James Levy, Jorge Benitez, Doraida Fernandez, Pablo Annovelli and Carlos Paez. The Miami location is managed by Eric Termini, regional executive, and is part of Alex. Brown's Atlantic region led by Brett Kellam, regional director.

Added to Alex. Brown's Park Avenue office in Manhattan is advisor Victor Simon Gill, who was with Avanza Capital Markets since 2009, according to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's BrokerCheck website. The Park Avenue location is part of Alex. Brown's metropolitan region, managed by John Sutton, regional director.

The additions come as Alex. Brown continues to expand its presence in "key markets" including New York and South Florida, according to Haig Ariyan, its president.

Joining the company are "experienced client advisors who are looking for the combination Alex. Brown offers," Ariyan said in a statement. "Coupled with the breadth of resources at Raymond James — from sophisticated wealth planning expertise to forward-looking technology — the boutique feel at Alex. Brown continues to attract experienced client advisors throughout the U.S., including these important markets where our firm has built a well-established presence."

"After 25 years in the industry, I wanted a high touch, service oriented, boutique style firm that offers agility, flexibility, high-level technology and a client focused culture," according to Souza.

"I was looking for a firm that has deep financial resources, products, scale and size," Souza said in the announcement. "After extensive evaluation, I chose Alex. Brown… as the best fit for my clients and my team."

Raymond James Financial now has about 8,400 financial advisors throughout the U.S., Canada and overseas who manage total client assets of $1.17 trillion, it said.
