Massachusetts Life Insurance Company has hired Andrea Anastasio to be its first head of investment management solutions.
Anastasio previously was head of investment strategy and research at State Street Global Advisors. She also has worked for Wellington Management.
MassMutual says it wants Anastasio to help it stand out from the investment management crowd.
Anastasio has a bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a master's degree from the University of Chicago.
MassMutual is based in Springfield, Massachusetts.

AmeriLife Group has brought in a second former Cigna Corp. executive to fill a new post.
Brad Shelton will be the Clearwater, Florida-based insurance distributor's senior vice president, product innovation.
Shelton previously was the chief operating officer at Cigna's supplemental benefits unit. He also has worked for the Aetna unit that issues Medicare supplement insurance. Earlier, he was an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Shelton has a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee. He holds the Certified Public Accountant professional designation.
