Kemper Corp. has hired Tim Stonehocker to be president of its Kemper Life unit.
Stonehocker previously was executive vice president of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp.
Kemper is a Chicago-based multiline insurer that bought the rights to the Kemper name from Zurich Insurance Group in 2010.
Stonehocker has a bachelor's degree from Drake University.
He started out with Aegon as an independent agent and spent 24 years there. When he left, he was the chief executive officer of the company's Life and Protection Group.
Stonehocker has served on the board of LL Global and on the life committee at the American Council of Life Insurers.

He will lead the company's Anthem Foundation as well as overseeing medical policy and clinical quality efforts.
Agrawal previously was the chief executive officer of the National Quality Forum.
