Kemper Taps Stonehocker to Lead Life Unit: Personnel Moves

Kemper Corp. has hired Tim Stonehocker to be president of its Kemper Life unit.

Stonehocker previously was executive vice president of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp.

Kemper is a Chicago-based multiline insurer that bought the rights to the Kemper name from Zurich Insurance Group in 2010.

Stonehocker has a bachelor's degree from Drake University.

He started out with Aegon as an independent agent and spent 24 years there. When he left, he was the chief executive officer of the company's Life and Protection Group.

Stonehocker has served on the board of LL Global and on the life committee at the American Council of Life Insurers.

In other personnel moves news:

Anthem Inc., Indianapolis, has hired Dr. Shantanu Agrawal to be its chief health officer.

He will lead the company's Anthem Foundation as well as overseeing medical policy and clinical quality efforts.

Agrawal previously was the chief executive officer of the National Quality Forum.

He has a bachelor's degree from Brown University and a medical degree from Cornell. He also has a master's degree in social and political sciences from Cambridge University.

He is associate clinical professor of emergency medicine at Georgetown University's medical school.

The American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, has hired Kimberly Ross to be senior vice president, federal government relations.

She previously was chief of staff and chief counsel to Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio.

Ross has also served as staff director and counselor for the House Veterans' Affairs Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs subcommittee; legislative director and counsel for the late Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md.; and senior legislative assistant to Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md..

Ross has a bachelor's degree from Notre Dame University of Maryland and a law degree from the University of Maryland.

She serves on the board of the University of Maryland's law school.

OneAmerica has hired Mary Beth Carion to be regional vice president, sales and service, for its employee benefits arm.

Carion previously worked for Lincoln Financial Group as vice president for major account relationship management.

Carion has a bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross.
