Sammons Financial Group says builders have completed construction of a new, 30-acre headquarters campus for the company in West Des Moines, Iowa. The company hopes to move about 600 employees and contractors into the six-story, 217-square-foot building on Mills Civic Parkway by the end of the year. Sammons Financial is the parent of Midland National Life Insurance Company, North American Company for Life and Health Insurance and Sammons Institutional Group. The companies sell life insurance, annuities, and retirement products and services. Ground was broken on the new building in June 2019. Sammons Financial's staff in the Des Moines area have been working leased offices during construction. Esfand Dinshaw, CEO, said in the building announcement, that the company looks forward to moving all employees in the area into the same, company-owned space. "If we have learned anything this past year, it is that our employees are stronger together," Dinshaw said. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a majority of its workers are working from outside the company's offices, the company stated in a release. "Sammons Financial Group anticipates fully introducing the campus to its employees and distribution partners in 2021," the company said. "As the community manages through COVID-19 containment, the company's employees will return to office — and Sammons Financial Group will plan a grand opening — only when safe to do so." Some other life and annuity issuers also have reconfigured their offices.
